From the lost hard drive: The Grandma Sessions

When I was doing my undergrad, I did a series for my Studio Photography class in which I had my female friends get dressed up like their grandmothers (when the grandmothers were in their early 20's) and sort of act out their personalities and use specific relics that belonged to them to convey their spirit. I didn't try too hard to make the photos look like they were taken in this time period, I wanted there to be a specific distinction that these were taking place in our time, like playing dress up. I really have a soft spot for these, for some reason. Enjoy.

Music

Much love to the B3nson gang for a great show last night with We Are Jeneric and The Crown Vandals (who are both named Tim, one is an Aussie!) It was great to play at the old location of Amrose + Sable Gallery and stomp feet, sing Christmas songs.

I might get a video snippet from Miss Emily Armstrong of the show last night, which I will definitely post! I think I'm going to attempt to home-record a small EP for the new year, so look out!

Ingrid Ludt

Ingrid Ludt is a super local drawer whose work I admire. She uses ink, watercolor, pencil and thread to create these liney abiguous forms that have alot of repeititve nature-y shapes.

She's shown at The Arts Center, and when I first statred working here, I noticed that one of her drawings was on my office wall in a frame. It's lovely. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to keep it, but I have the feeling it's been here for years. Anyway...dig Miss Ingrid.

Those Still Young

I'm beginning to collaborate with my friend, Craig Staufenberg, who wrote a short story called "Those Still Young." I'll be illustrating the story, which is my first attempt at that kind of project. I'll probably be posting some progress sketches here along the way. Here's a taste of the protagonist, Young Orphan.
